Kambo is a healing ritual that originated out of the rainforests in the Upper Amazon rainforests. It is progressively taking hold and being administered around all other areas of the world due to its powerful impact and benefits.
Kambo, also known as Sapo, is a secretion from the Giant Green Monkey Tree Frog. The frog’s scientific name is Phyllomedusa Bicolor. Kambo is considered a medicine by many tribes and has been used for thousands of years.
Indigenous people have used Kambo for centuries. Traditionally it was used to cleanse, strengthen and energize the minds and bodies of hunters. This cleanse would in turn strengthen the body's natural defenses. It was used as a medicine for Malaria, fevers, infections and snake bites. Kambo was also known to ward off bad luck and clear away negative energy (known as Panema).
It was also believed to increase stamina and sharpen hunting skills.
A look at its history points to many discoveries of just how potent and helpful it would turn out to be: An Italian scientist, Vittorio Erspamer of the University of Rome, was the first person to analyze Kambô in a laboratory. In 1986, he wrote that it contains a ‘fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications, unequaled by any other amphibian’. The chemicals Vittorio referred to are peptides. The peptides studied by Erspamer have become essential to understanding the function they have in scanning the body and healing at bioactive level. Vittorio was twice nominated for a Nobel Prize and was also the person who first discovered Serotonin.
Modern uses of Kambo range from: detoxification, treatment for anxiety, depression and addiction, as well as addressing a host of other medical issues and diseases. Overall, Kambo is superior at clearing out negative and stagnant energy.
These days shamans and naturopathic practitioners turn to Kambo for cleansing the body of toxins, as well as treating numerous health conditions.

Next, a practitioner will use a burning stick to create a number of small burns on the skin. Kambo is applied to these "gates".
From the gates, the Kambo enters the lymphatic system and bloodstream, where it’s said to race around the body scanning toxins. This usually results in some immediate side effects, including vomiting, sweating and a rapid heart rate for a short window of time.
Following the treatment and once these effects begin to fade, water or tea is given to help flush out the toxins and rehydrate.

While there are scant clinical studies, according to practitioners and partakers of Kambo cleansing, it can help relieve symptoms of the following:
ENERGETIC CLEARING
Panema is a term used to describe negative energy that gathers over time. Traditionally visualized as a kind of dense grey cloud or aura, panema is blamed for bad luck, depression, laziness, irritation, and other adverse states. For many, Kambo serves as a means to clear out this dense energy to a higher degree which is tough to achieve through any other means.
Outside of traditional contexts, the dissipation of panema is framed in terms of “clearing the pain body,” “re-aligning the chakras,” or “reorganizing personal psychology”. The purge itself may be felt as an expulsion of bad thoughts, habits, negative personality traits, or persistent life problems. This energetic release can be felt in the immediate days following the Kambo ceremony.
A profoundly transformational tool, Kambo medicine is known to increase compassion, courage, emotional stability, and personal sovereignty. Some users feel more “real” or “solid” after Kambo application. More in their bodies and less in their heads. Frustration, anger, and anxiety also tend to reduce or dissipate entirely. These positive changes may last several days or several months, depending on the application and the person receiving it.
